095 / 096 / 097 / 098 / AG4 / 01M / 01N / 01P

095 - 4-speed gearbox used in passenger cars with transverse engines from 1.6L to 2.0L. Installed in Volkswagen, Skoda, Seat and Audi cars. The differences between it and the 01M are the lack of Lock-up in the converter (095) and the bowl gasket, housing and pistons.

096 - The 096 gearbox, often repaired in workshops, was installed in the Volkswagen Golf until 2009. Lock'up is only engaged in 4th gear.

097 - 4-speed modification 095 produced since 1995. for Audi 80 and 100, which was replaced by the 01N gearbox. It was installed in Audi with transversely mounted engines with a capacity from 1.6L to 2.6L

098 - 4-speed modification installed in minibuses and minivans with a transversely mounted engine. The 01P was created on the basis of this box. It does not use converter Lock'Up.

01M - The 4-speed gearbox, preceded by the 095/096 models and considered to be the legendary 01M, was launched in 1995. Used in all popular FWD vehicles from Volkswagen, Audi, Seat and Skoda with transversely mounted engines with a capacity from 1.6L to 2.0L. The most popular transmission during the reconstruction was 096. It was installed in some Volkswagen factories until 2009. The 01N modification was used in the Passat model with various engines. 01P, which was less popular and had higher torque, was installed in Volkswagen Sharan, T2 and T4, Eruovan and Ford Galaxy with engines up to 2.8L. All modifications have many compatible spare parts. This series of automatic transmissions was the last of VAG's production to try to be competitive on the market. ZF 5HP19 which was released on the market in 1995. eclipsed the competition, and VAG soon thereafter discontinued automatic transmission production and began using Aisin Warner and ZF products.

01N - This 4-speed gearbox successfully replaced the 090 gearbox in 1991. Used in Adua with FWD drive (A4, A6) with engine capacity from 1.6L to 2.6L. Volkswagen used it in its Passat up to 1.9L with a longitudinal engine. from 1991-2004, three modifications of this transmission were created, corresponding to the production years - 1991-1995, 1996-1998 and 1999-2004. Differences between them exist in certain design elements.

AG4 - modification of the 01N gearbox developed for Audi A4, A6 and Cabrio with an engine capacity of 2.8L. They differ in housings and differential gear. Most parts are interchangeable in all modifications. The main difference between it and other transmissions in this family is the differential with a separate lubrication system, which requires special oil.
