4HP18, 4HP18FLA, 01F - The 4-speed transmission from ZF was installed in Saab (9000), Rover, Peugeot, Citroen and Audi (100 FWD from 2.0L to 3.0L) cars. In 1989, amendments were introduced to it and later several modifications were released. Later, this gearbox was used in the Audi 100 and Quattro with AWD drive. It was a competitor to the 097/01N gearbox. The 4HP18 became the design base for the 5-speed 5HP18 and 5HP19 transmissions.

4HP18FLE, 4HP18FL, 01K - The 4-speed gearbox marked by VAG as 01K was installed in cars with FWD drive and a longitudinal engine.

4HP18Q, 4HP18QE, 4HP18EH - this modification was installed in Saab, Alfa Romeo, Fiat, Lancia, Citroen and Peugeot cars with FWD drive and a transverse engine.
